Show Critique:

Bitches :- Thank you to the committee for the very kind invitation to judge the bitches at your always sunny show, yes it was very hot but all dogs were underneath the gazebo when not being assessed. Thank you to all who exhibited in the hot afternoon sun, we all coped very well.

I’ve had BT’s since 1978 and started showing in 1986, I have meet quite a few friends along the way and judged many BT’s, today I found some lovely exhibits as you always do, the downside was so many other dogs really had poor movement both front and rear. Handlers must watch their dogs as bad movement is a no no for me. Coats were mainly good, some with no coat at all and were penalised accordingly. In all the bitches there was only one undershot mouth.

I totally agreed with the dog judge for best in show, the dog stood out for us both, in movement, confirmation and

type. Judge Hilary Gilpin

This blue/tan moved around the ring with purpose, great to see his stride which is lacking in many

exhibits. He has a masculine head with good fold of ears, short strong muzzle with big white teeth,

slender reach of neck set on superb shoulders. The best of toplines and superb tail set which is lacking in today’s breed. Narrow front, ribs carried well back and correct length of loin, good hind angulation. His coat was turned out to perfection, which with his movement and harsh coat and pelt won him over the bitch for best in show. Dog CC and Best in Show

smallest of tidy feet.

A good strong class to win, at last I found a bitch which stood out, she has the shape of a very well put together bitch if the shoulders and hind angulation are correct then the movement is. She has the length of body to accommodate the ribs well back, lovely varminty expression good strong teeth. Her jacket and pelt could not compete against the dog for B.O.B but she was in my eye the best Bitch here today worthy of her Bitch CC.

2nd – CH Tythrop Touchstone (Mrs J Lee)

Thank you for staying right to the last class of the day. Stood alone as is the usual case nowadays in a

working class. Years ago the dogs which were used to work were of smaller build, lithe ,slim and

spannable. This bitch today I’m sorry to say was too large and heavy, broad in the chest and

unspannable.
